Hi!

What would be your top tips to help increase my listing page views and impressions? Both figures are down to almoust 40%  within the last month. And of course it does have an impact on sales. How to get that back in most efficient way?

Thanks!

Hi @too_good_2be_used

Thanks for reaching out.

Starting with the basics and optimising listings to work better with best match is one of the best ways to increase your visibility.

To optimise your listings, we recommend starting with your titles and images as these constitute your “shop window”. The more closely your title reflects a buyer’s search terms, the higher the chance they will find it. So put yourself in their shoes and follow our best practices. The first 3 words in a title are the most important.

Best practice for titles:

Do put the brand name first — this will catch a buyer’s attention.

Do focus on the first 3 keywords — they are most important and should be words buyers would use in their search.

Do use the 80 available characters. The more detail the title has, the better your search visibility and relevance.

Do use Terapeak Product Research to research your competition and see what titles are already performing well. This is free for all Seller Hub users.

Do not include brand names or keywords unrelated to the item you’re selling — this is keyword spamming

Do not use special characters or emojis.

Do not include false or misleading information — especially regarding the item’s condition.

Do not include exclamation marks, all-caps, or words like “wow” — they are wasted keywords and do not perform well in eBay search.

Its also worth looking at the number of photos you have on you're listings, as a general rule you should have a minimum of 5.

You should also have as many specifics as possible. Unlike the description, specifics are fully attachable. Here  you have the option to create your own, so you can use search terms that buyers use that don't fit in the titles.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Dave

💬 Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 27.07.22 @2pm

We had a call last week but it wasn't to offer advice or any support, it was a customer service representative that didn't really have any idea what was going and on as he said it wasn't even his department and he had just been assigned the task to ring up affected sellers and basically take notes.

Is there an additional phone call affected sellers should be expecting or is this the one you mean?

I know it's not down to the staff monitoring the chat so it is not aimed at you, but it has taken

almost two weeks to be given a seller support email address after having combined hundreds of hours on the phone and live chat, complete radio silence from eBay, affected sellers talking about going out of business, anxiety, depression, laying off staff and even about feeling like taking their own life regarding the issue.

It has been extremely poor and I hope sellers who contact the seller growth team will be provided with the tools to recover what eBay took away on a whim without a second though on how it was going to impact eBay sellers.

Please, rather than C&P the same reponse each time, can you feed back to the relevant team that the 'dynamic calculation' does not work.

I have a 4 day despatch time set because there are issues that may cause me to take this time to post. However, because I usually, manage to send same/next day, ebay decide to override my 4 day time. If anything happens that my OH is unable to drive, or the car is out of action (both of them are getting older and less reliable) I will need those extra days, as, if I have to rely on friends/family, I will only ask them to go to the delivery office no more than twice a week.

Why ask us to set a despatch time, only to override it?

Can we look forward to 'dynamic pricing', where ebay decide the item cost for us anytime soon?

Hi @kempseykate

Thanks for the question.

The dispatch time is only one part of the larger calculation. As you know it uses this and other data points from across the site when working out the estimation.

We will continue to pass your concerns back to the shipping team.

Thanks,

Dave

1i guess question 23 is about the vat problem.

To this date, I have not had a phonecall, message or anything.

Same for all the people in the vat problem forum it seems.

It seems only today an email account has been given.

Too little too lat for most.

There's a lot of details here. Happy to go into detail with you so we can get to the bottom of it and share with the rest of the community.

Now that the chat has closed please open a thread within the Mentor Lounge and we can discuss.

How come a business seller on thier own website and Amazon is registered for VAT and Limited company yet run two private acocunts on ebay, offer no distance selling information or returns policy?

Far to many private accounts clealry running a business.

These accounts have been reported time and time again but nothing ever gets done.

Yet go to any ebay event and get told about the importance of trust, offering returns etc.

Hi @oakley_home_and_gifts

Thanks for the question.

I cant comment on any action that may have been taken on different accounts but I would like to look into this further. If you have some examples of this, message me directly with accounts and your concerns. I'll escalate them directly and ask the policy team to review them.

Thanks,

Dave
