Hi everybody!

The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.

Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!

Our eBay Community Team is made up of kat@ebay , dave@ebay and marco@ebay . Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support. We understand that certain topics, such as concerns about businesses possibly using private accounts, can be frustrating and important to you. Please refrain from asking the same question repeatedly in our weekly live chats. We assure you that we carefully review all posts in the forum and ensure that your concerns are communicated to the relevant teams for appropriate action.
To maintain a constructive and community environment, posts that repeatedly breach this guideline may be removed. Continued violations could result in further action against your community account. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us keep our community focused and respectful.

To ask your question, click Reply in the lower-right corner of this post, type your question, and click Reply between 2pm and 3pm. The community team will answer each incoming question in chronological order and will quote the original question in each answer.

Please note that any reply without a question to the community team or discussion replies may be removed from the chat. We want to keep on track to get through as many questions as possible. We welcome all discussion to be moved to the discussion boards.

If you missed the weekly chat time, please ask your question in the community boards and tag us or we will be back next week with another chat!

Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 07.05.25 @2pm

Good afternoon and thanks for providing a place for us ebay sellers and buyers to contact you. I am using Simple Delivery with no problems, but would ask can ebay think about changing the system where once we download the QR Code the item is being marked as dispatched,

Over the Easter Bank Holiday, when I downloaded the QR Code late on the Saturday, the item was marked as dispatched where in fact the parcel could not be sent until the following Tuesday three days later. Perhaps a marked as dispatched button as with the older style posting system.

Kind Regards Charlie.

Q in the message to us today Why are we now being asked to review and amend our live listing do to eBays simple delivery mess of the parcel sizes & Q why is the no mention of letter and large letter options for lower price items,

or is this just because they have under priced medium parcels sizes (61x 46 x46 cm)

Can Ebay give us a spreadsheet formula we can use for ALL tiers of Buyer Protection Fee (BPF), to get the pre-BPF price to enter in the price box on listings?

Many threads exist like this one below, and no one has been able to make one that takes us near to a correct price for all three tiers (<300, 300 to 4000, 4000+)

https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/New-Fees-calculation/m-p/7846330

i.e. If we want to sell an item for 349.95 FINAL price, we need to know the price without the BPF to enter on the listing.

 Hi @cz1266 ,

Thank you for your feedback on the marked as dispatched for Simple Delivery. We'll share this with the development team for review.

Thank you,

Kat

I use Royal Mail and the rates announced earlier today are confusing - it looks as if a 0-1kg package is £3.64 and a 1-2kg package is £3.38 i.e cheaper than a lighter package, if I am reading correctly.   I obviously don’t want buyers to have a problem so would like clarification please.

Not question but a suggestion off extending your delivery/shipping date, due too illness, I recently had over bank holiday weekend sever sickness that resulted in me landing in hospital for treatment, I was forced to pay someone to pack and dispatch my sales. With a facility to extend this date I would not have needed to.
I am a sole trader on my own so if I am ill, ebay want to punish me for that!
A facility that would mirror ETSY's system, I had sale on there extended no problem and dispatched on time on ebay it is not available, Why?

Afternoon team,

Just a quickie, my percentage has dropped to 99.8% since receiving automated feedback. Only a year old negative is hanging around while I’m at 99.9%.
I know it’s a silly 00.1% but visually it’s not pretty, am I being penalised for buyers not leaving fb?

Ty

Hi dantwocats, thanks for your question.

What message exactly are you referring to? Regarding your 2nd question, that's just the way Simple Delivery works. Large letter is available, however, depending the scenario, the option might not come up for certain orders.

Thank you,

Marco

Good afternoon again Kat, just one last thing,  the automatic feedback is a great idea and welcome, thanks. Is it possible that ebay introduce a few different comments, rather than just the one generic ‘Order completed successfully - tracked and on time,’

Anything else, please feel free to let us know.

Thank you,

Marco

Hi @jimthing

Thats a good suggestion, I can definitely see how it would help. I'll pass this over to the site team and ask if it's something they can implement or even add something to help pages that can do the calculation for you.

Thanks,

Dave

Could you extend the exemption for Simple Delivery for low value letter-sized items to include large letter under 100g? A lot of my items fit into this category, and I currently send them 2nd class Royal Mail for £1.55. An expensive fully tracked service isn't necessary for these items. I will no longer be able to sell these items on ebay once I have to use Simple Delivery.

Hi cz1266, thanks for your post.

Thanks for letting us about this, I'll pass this on for you no problem, so this can be taken into consideration. However, please note that this doesn't necessarily means that changes will be made around the suggestion/feedback in question.

Thank you,

Marco

Dave, its a spreadsheet formula we specifically need for our own spreadsheets. We have a third-party website that can work out the answer for us, but that can't be implemented on our own spreadsheets; hence a formula is needed.

An additional suggestion is to add the option of just adding the FINAL PRICE we want in the price box, and then have Ebay take the fees OFF that, rather than only the other way around we have now (pre-BFP price then Ebay add the BFP to it).

Thanks for your input, we will pass this on to the relevant team, so this can be taken into consideration. However, as advised before, please note that this doesn't necessarily means that the changes suggested will be added.

Thank you so much for you well wishes unfortunately a call to CS was not possible. But i appreciate you passing this forward thank you. perhaps have them take a look at how etsy deal with these scenarios by just extending the dispatch date up to 7 days, which would have been fine for me.
