Return to different address

Hello. I purchased an item that arrived defective. After some timewasting the seller accept a return. The address that is on the return case is in mainland China. The seller has asked me via a message to send the item to a different address, claiming the address to be for a “return helper”.
I have asked more than once for them to provide a shipping label and they are being evasive and telling me they will PayPal me money after I’ve sent it.
My question is am I right that they should provide me with a shipping label for the return because the item was defective? And if not should I ship it to the address the seller has messaged me?
Many thanks in advance.

Have you opened a not as described claim through the listing using Ebay's money back guarantee ?.

You only have 30 days from date of receipt to do anything through Ebay, when did item arrive ?.

Return to different address

I received a faulty item from China. The package had Chinese postage stamps & address was unreadable. So, I opened eBay case for not as described.

The Seller refunded me in full within 24 hours via eBay, apologised and informed me they did not want the item returning.

Return to different address

I have opened a return. After some initial timewasting they have agreed the return. The official return on eBay’s system has an address in China but the seller wants me to return it to a uk address and they are being evasive about issuing a shipping label

If the seller is behaving in an obstructive manner and has failed to provide an eBay Returns Label wait until the fourth working day from the date that you opened the case, at which point you will see a blue button appear in the case history that hadn't been there previously.  When that blue button appears click on it in order to escalate the case to eBay.

After you have clicked on the blue button to escalate the case you should see a large white box in which you can enter additional information.  If you say something along the lines of "The seller has failed to provide an eBay Returns Label so that I can return the goods for a refund" then eBay ought to decide the case in your favour and refund your money in full.  Should that actually be the final outcome you more than likely won't be required to return the item to the seller, as eBay will probably treat the matter as though the seller didn't actually want the item back again due to his or her failure to issue you with an eBay Returns Label in the first place.

Return to different address

Hi. I think that the button you mention is not there because they have accepted the return. However they will not issue a return shipping label.
Should I contact eBay directly?

Thanks
