Delivery options

I was looking at an item and the delivery options included "free other courier" and "free RM" I clicked on the purchase to take me to check out as I wanted to see how to choose the option. Instead ebay have treated this as a sale and carried out the transaction using money they had on hold. I wasn't interested in purchasing this item per se but wanted to see if I could choose a delivery option. I've already done a cancellation and also contacted the seller.

However the purpose of this post is, when a seller offers "free other courier" or "free RM" does the buyer get the option to choose which delivery service to use, ( I won't use couriers), or is the buyer stuck with what the seller decides to use?

You can cancel the order before it is dispatched and you will receive a refund.

Message the seller and explain what happened.

I did all that moldos and had my money back within an hour, (probably even quicker), I have since then found an item on the sellers site that was more suitable for my need so at least they will be getting my business as the seller was also very helpful.

My question was more about choosing the delivery service I want. I hate couriers with a passion and will avoid at all costs, selling or buying. It's just that recently I've noticed some sellers offering "free other courier" or "free RM 2nd class" and as with this little test I did, I was given "free other courier" without any choice in the matter.

If both options were showing on the listing then you should have been able to choose the required option at checkout. 

In future, if you add the item to your basket and then go to checkout instead of using the 'Buy it now' button then you will be able to see all the options available and exactly what you will be charged without having to commit to the purchase.
