Buyer protection

I just wondered why buyers are having to pay a buyers fee? Surely it’s the sellers responsibility to ensure goods are as described etc. Why should I have to pay more to ensure it arrives as described etc - just doesn't make sense?

Re: Buyer protection

I can assure  you that sellers dislike it as much as you do  but it is what Ebay have decided to do now.

Re: Buyer protection

I spoke with ebay yesterday about several issues, including this one. I was told that the buyers fee helps to cover the fact that ebay customer services have now got extended hours.

Re: Buyer protection

Dont worry too much.  It is still basically a seller fee.  Sellers have had to reduce all their prices to allow for it.

Re: Buyer protection

24/7

were they actually needed

how many people  were desperate to contact the after 8pm and before 8am or whatever the schedule was

So now all buyers have to pay this fee just in case they might need help at midnight lol

bet your bottom dollar the amount of times it’s used out of hours  won’t be that much but eBay will be raking in all those fees

Ebay are being economical with the truth here.

The 24/7 help line has already been admitted to being an AI bot out of office hours.....

The BPF has nothing to do with goods being 'as described' or goods arriving un-damaged, or not arriving at all.

That's all exactly as it has been since the MBG existed.

The BPF is a way of trying to sell 'payment processing' as something new and wonderful that buyers didn't have before.

('payment processing' being the term for the actual movement of monies, securely, between buyer, ebay and seller. It was covered by the seller's fees which are now gone for private sellers. So it has to be re-couped from *somewhere*..... and that'll be the buyers)
