Last week I accepted two parcels on behalf of a neighbour. The delivery driver said he would put a card through their door. Needless to say this was Royal Mail, NOT evri.
According to the “map of the delivery location?” my package was delivered to this same neighbour. (The bin in evri’s photograph is not theirs either.)
Included in the price of the item is the cost of carriage, so evri have been paid to deliver to my address, where I was waiting at the time of their alleged delivery.
In these circumstances I do not expect to have to ask “a few neighbours first.”
As I paid my money to ebay, they are the merchant, responsible not only for the delivery, but also the quality of the item.
Ebay’s (and evri’s) evidence for “Delivered to a secure location” is a photograph of a wheelie bin. Really?
Based just on the evidence of the photograph ebay have refused a refund. Speaking to their representative through ebay’s “Send an Appeal”, he suggested that I knock on every door in the postcode. Really?
The responsibility for the refund, without prevarication, is therefore ebay’s. It is up to them whether to pursue a claim against evri (ebay’s default carrier) and/or the seller.
I am beginning to think that it will need a case in the Small Claims Court to get ebay to take responsibility.
