eBay only allow 30 days from date of delivery for claims so you're out of time. Contact your payment provider and see if they can help with a refund.

I can understand 30 days money back guarantee policy for other items such as toys, perfumes, storage etc but how does it feel if you buy a phone and it work's fine first month and second month stop working and you loose out everything so that clearly means don't buy any phone from ebay as there are more chances people can get away with it aspecially second month of selling.
Frustrating 😠

Hi @scent4u . You don't say if you know the reasons for it being blocked. I was interested so I asked Copilot.
When a second-hand phone gets blocked after a couple of months, it usually means one of a few things happened:
🔍 Common Reasons Phones Get Blocked
Reported as stolen or lost: The original owner may have reported it, and the carrier added it to a blacklist (IMEI blocking).
Unpaid bills: If the phone was bought on contract and the seller stopped paying, the carrier can block the device.
Network lock issues: Some phones are locked to a specific carrier, and if the account tied to it is closed or flagged, the phone may stop working.
Fraudulent sale: Unfortunately, some second-hand devices are sold under false pretenses.
✅ What You Can Do
Check the IMEI status: You can look up your phone’s IMEI number (usually found in Settings → About Phone or by dialing *#06#) on an IMEI checker website to see if it’s blacklisted.
Contact the carrier: They can confirm why the phone is blocked and whether it can be unblocked.
Reach out to the seller: If possible, ask for proof of purchase or resolve the issue with them.
Based on reading this I would find out why it is blocked and whether you can change that status, which sounds unlikely.
Speak to Ebay tomorrow morning, hopefully Dublin. At the very least they should tell you how to report the seller and they should look to block the seller. (Wishful thinking perhaps)
They may offer a goodwill refund if you tell them you will be raising a chargeback through your bank. If you have to go through the charge back process I can't see why you wouldn't be refunded. (Hope you didn't use Ebay funds)
Please let us know how it goes.

Seeing as how a chargeback costs ebay nothing I think it highly unlikely that the threat of one would result in ebay making a refund with their own money.

@papso22 hi, but worth a try. In fact, the accounts state that charge backs are one of the drivers behind increased costs. I'm paraphrasing there, but I imagine the admin costs are quite high and without legal action alot of the dodgy sellers will be hard to get the money back from, even for ebay

Anything is worth a try!
I think the chargeback costs in the accounts are those where ebay provides seller protection i.e INRs and unauthorised transactions where the seller has sent to the checkout address provided by ebay. As they always wash their hands of 'not as described' chargebacks, there will be little by way of costs for those.
That makes my earlier post rather inaccurate! Apologies, I should have made it clear that not as described chargebacks don't cost ebay.
