Automatic payment when making an offer

Hello folks,

Sorry for asking as I'm sure not to be the first.

Could one of you lovely people tell me how to stop automatic payment if an offer I make is accepted by the seller as I can not seem to find how?

I'll admit I'm not the sharpest knife in the draw with the interweb

Automatic payment when making an offer

A buyer can not stop it. The seller has to turn it off on their listings.

Automatic payment when making an offer

The seller has the option to withdraw that immediate offer feature,  not the buyer.

Sellers will have this activated to stop any non payments made when offers are accepted.  If a payment is not made,  the item stays on for sale.

Automatic payment when making an offer

@marshallsdad70:  If you've submitted a Best Offer to an eBay seller then eBay will have asked for your payment information up front if the seller had this option activated in his or her settings.  What this means is that from that point onward, if you make any subsequent Best Offers then eBay will automatically take the money from the payment method that you used for the first automated payment should the seller accept the offer, which does away with the option for you to pay manually at Checkout, where you would normally be able to select which payment option you wanted to use in order to pay for the goods.  However, there are steps you can take in order to stop any further automatic payments from going to eBay if you don't want eBay to automatically take payments from your funding source, as I've set out below:

If you're funding the payment with a credit or debit card then delete the card in question from your eBay account.  That way eBay will not be able to use it as a funding source for automatic payments.  Once you've broken the automatic link between the card and eBay you can, if you want to, add it back onto your eBay account, but you would have to be careful that you did not commit to submitting any further Best Offers if a message flashes up from eBay stating that your payment details need to be entered before your offer can be submitted to the seller for his or her consideration.

If you financed the payment via PayPal then log into your PayPal account and go to Savings.  Click on the Payments option and then select Automatic Payments.  In that section you should see a list of companies with whom you have an automatic payment set up.  If eBay is on that list click on eBay's name and then click on Cancel.  Once you have done that it will delete eBay from the list and stop any automatic payments from PayPal to eBay, although you would still be able to use PayPal to make payments for items purchased on eBay.  The only difference is that you would have to select the payment method manually at Checkout from the various options presented to you, then click on the blue button further down the page to make payment as normal.
