** RESOLVED NOW - THANK YOU **    I bought a pair of Alpinestar motorcycle gloves from an eBay store, Bikerwear for £49.95. I've never had issues with Alpinestars in the past, but after wearing these gloves for only 2 weeks, the seam by the thumb had split open.    I wore the same size I've always worn, so I got in touch with the seller as obviously I was disappointed.    They advised me they would have to send the gloves to Alpinestars themselves to see if they could be repaired.    Within a couple of days of receiving the gloves, I had a missed call from the seller's office in Birmingham, with an answerphone message about the repair.  They then emailed me they had been advised by Alpinestars that this was accidental damage and they refused to repair.   I was given a partial refund of £25.00. I got back in touch and said I was disappointed with the outcome, but would prefer the gloves back so I could attempt a repair myself.   The seller has refused to send them back, as they have stated 'we will not be sending these back to you. the reason is we gave you a partial refund. We will have to resell these gloves - if you wish you can buy it of us at 50%.'   To me, that sounds like they have had them repaired - why couldn't they have repaired them and sent them back to me? hi has anyone had a weird phone call from a 020 number of an inland revenue number claiming fraud or something in a robotic voice. its a scam an only thing i can think of is i purchuresed something from a seller that was based in london but the address is from china i think there getting information from the products were buying and either passing information on or there using it to scam. only reason i think this is because no one other then friends have my number and i havent had a call like this before also im a new memebr of atleast 6 months so im thinking it through a item i purchured. what yous think? ... I purchased some small items which are urgently required and paid for DPD 24 delivery. However the seller sent by Royal Mail 48. Thinking this was a mistake I sent a message to the seller saying that due to the urgency I would enter another order but this time please send by DPD 24 as paid for. To my surprise the same thing happened - the items were dispatched by RM 48. The seller has not responded to any of my messages. In the meantime I have ordered the items elsewhere which I should receive tomorrow.   When the items eventually arrive from the ebay seller I would like to return them (by Royal Mail 48 which costs very little!) asking for a refund on the grounds that the items were not delivered by the method ordered and paid for. HI I'm looking for some advice.  I'm having a problem buying from a UK company on ebay who says on his listings that his invoices inclulde UK VAT and it is itemised separately on his invoices plus he shows his UK VAT number   I've explained to them that I am in the EU and since Jan 1st, UK selles can not charge VAT to EU buyers.  Actually I am in the Canary Islands so I'm in the EU but not in the customs union and we were already exempt from paying UK VAT anyway ut that should make no difference.   However the seller is telling me that his ebay prices are already VAT exempt when he clearly states on his listings that they are VAT inclusive   I did a bit of reseach an It says this on the UK government website When the UK leaves the EU VAT area, it will become a third country. This means that the way businesses manage VAT on goods and services exported and imported to/from the EU will change. Sellers will not charge VAT, but buyers will have to pay VAT to HMRC at the point of import (alongside any applicable customs duties).   The probleim is that EU buyers ordering form the UK now have to pay VAT (IVA) which is generally 21% on all items they purchase from the UK, plus the couriers fee for completing import paper work (10-20 euros typically) plus 21% on the paper work charge.   I don't understsand why the UK seller will not give me a VAT exempt prices.  Otherwise I am paying UK VAT plus import paperwork plus local VAT which makes the goods too expensive to buy, I may as well order from France or Germany or Spain.     As this issue basically prevents 550 million EU citizens from buying from UK suppliers at a reasonalble price, or indeed the correct price, I don't understand why the seller is causing me problems - surely they want my business and surely they can't afford to lose 550 million prospective EU customers?   Also it appears it is illigal for the seller to charge me UK VAT.  I have asked again for the seller to clarify the paradox between telling me the goods are VAT exclusive and listing them as VAT inclusive.  if I don't get a satisfactory answer should I report this matter to ebay?   Also as an aside how does this issue affect none VAT registered  UK ebay sellers?  Can they no longer sell competitively to the EU?     ... I appreciate that eBay now have to charge VAT on the purchase price of an item bought from the US, but I object strongly to having to also pay VAT on whatever the seller charges for postage!  How can this possibly be correct, as there is no VAT on postage.  I recently received an invoice and it was not until I came to pay that I realised an additional 20% would be levied on the total price, ie, to include postage.  How can this be justified? ...
