Hi. Since 1st January 2021, I can no longer access the Checkout. I have several items in my Basket but when I click on Checkout I receive an error message telling me, 'something went wrong. please check out again'. Customer services tell me, 'This is due to a worldwide technical issue or system error in our end impacting some of our member to unable to pay some of their item.'
Has anyone else had this problem? As I've already commited to buying the items, as I requested an invoice from the seller, ebay will assume I am withholding payment. Grateful for any advice
Thanks
Rob
Hi Rob. Ebay has no interest in whether you pay or not. They get their selling fee the second an item is sold or an auction won, not when the buyer pays. Unpaid Item cases are opened by sellers, not by Ebay.
Ebay is in the process of switching sellers from PayPal to their own Managed Payments system, meaning that some sellers will be in one system, and some in the other. So if you're trying to pay for a whole bunch of stuff from different sellers in one go, that may account for the problem. Try paying each seller separately.
If that isn't the issue, it may be that the card linked to your PayPal account has expired, or is nearing its expiry date - that's the most common reason for checkout problems.
I have no knowledge of any worldwide site problems - the forums aren't bulging with similar posts, and I'm buying with no issues at all. If it helps, I use Firefox on a laptop.
