Oh yes. Second class is indeed taking 10 days or more. I am getting letters dated at least 10 days ago. Loads of INR s opened and on our Amazon store as well. So bad I am going to find another career and close our eBay and Amazon store after 25 years trading. It’s simply not worth it anymore

Found this yesterday, hope this helps with buyers complaining and show that there is delays being reconigsed by royal mail themselves. good luck everyone.

Hi.
Very interesting.
Thank you

As a buyer, I've definitely noticed that I don't get any eBay items on Saturdays that have been sent by 2nd Class post.
eBay's EDDs still often state a Saturday date for delivery, but I know from common sense and from reading the discussion boards that EDDs need a major overhaul!

Royal Mail has a service updates page on their website.
Service updates │ Royal Mail Group Ltd
The problem is it doesn't show previous bulletins, so not so much use for trying to defend late delivery claims.
My postcode is on that list, I think it was Friday I received a bundle of mail which was probably a weeksworth.

Not noticing any major problems yet - a lot of the items I posted 2nd class Wednesday were delivered yesterday (Saturday) which isn't supposed to be happening by now I thought.

yes I'm noticing some Large letters taking 2wks. I've had to refund a few but I'm just putting claims in.

Aren’t you getting INRs opened therefore affecting your metrics?

Maybe ebay have finally taken notice. I've just seen this when I check the tracking on several orders I'm waiting for.
Due to high order volumes, deliveries may take longer than usual.

eBay could easily send that warning message to all customers, with order confirmation, in general messaging, in banners on site, so all buyers see it. Or simply automatically extend the EDD window - Christmas is a regular event and can be planned for.
Incentive! Speed up Royal Mail deliveries by paying its staff by post, especially its executives. Send pay cheques in unidentifiable envelopes by 2nd Class post. Vary pay-days. Make executive pay based on performance: pay can go down as well as up. 🙂

F
cant work out why its such a problem to Royal Mail, Christmas happens every year
they have had about 500years practice
to get it right

Yes - Royal Mail are absolutely horrendous at the moment.
It's got to the point where I don't even question when a customer says their item hasn't arrived because I know it won't have done.
I just send another one and take the hit (sometimes this means a loss) - And of course in this scenario Royal Mail gets paid twice and I am out of pocket.
They are obviously trying to run down the letter side of the business and focus on the parcels - however right now I'd trust Evri more than them (never thought I'd say that).

It just *FEELS* like 500 years. Like the DFS sale.

I will add that I've had 3 late delivery defects this week, All refused on appeal, but removed when I spoke to a human as all marked delivered.
All large letters, postage bought on Ebay, scanned at post office and delivered, all shouldn't have been classed as defects and should of been removed automatically, so keep an eye on your metrics too.

This might help explain current RM problems. This is quote from an email to me yesterday.
"Grey mail bags are currently in short supply, and the distribution centre can only send out what they have in stock, I'm sorry about this.
all we can advise at this time is to make a few separate orders each week to get a regular supply once stock levels increase then the rolls will be back to their quantity of 20 bags per roll. in the meantime, you can use strong black bin liners temporarily if you are not receiving enough bags for the post that you send out."
So there you have it put your mail in bin liners 🤣🤣

What have they got against bin liners of other colours? I have ones, made by Br-b--t-a, that are grey. 🙂 But seriously, that's an interesting point and useful info from bzmotman. So, one wonders, how official is this? Will it appear on notices at sorting offices or on their website?
Before posting I thought I'd do a little digging. Search engines indicate this isn't official, and consensus summaries from AI search engines (I call them Skynet) - "Royal Mail has experienced shortages of their standard grey mail bags used for bulk mail postings, leading to discussions and suggestions about alternative packaging options. However, there is no official confirmation from Royal Mail's primary communications or official website advising bulk posters to use black bin liners as a substitute for grey mail bags." and "The available information in recent web sources and mailing supply sites discusses the availability and alternatives for mail bags but does not provide a direct statement or policy from Royal Mail instructing customers to use black bin liners due to a shortage of grey mail bags." and "It is possible that, in the absence of grey mail bags, some bulk posters or supply companies have independently suggested the use of black mailing bags (which are available for bulk purchase and serve similar purposes), but these should not be confused with household bin liners, as mailing bags are designed to meet specific durability and security standards for postal services. As of now, there is no widespread or formal policy mandating the use of black bin liners specifically due to any Royal Mail directive."
Therefore some official AND widely publicised clarification from Royal Mail would be useful!
Thanks to Evri's apparent habit of leaving parcels in bins, this connection to bin liners sparked a little concern at first! Because anything in a bin liner tends to be viewed, understandably, as containing rubbish.
