Return Policy For Underwear

I had a look through the help pages but I can't see anything specific for excluded items for returns.

Never had a return on underwear before in the 15 odd years I have been doing this.

A buyer has brought some briefs from us and are now wanting to return them saying they don't fit. If they have been tried on I obviously can't sell them. To be fair I won't know if they have been tried on so will likely have to bin them on return.

Is there a policy on non returnable items anywhere? Or do we have to accept back all returns. I would have thought you could only return underwear if faulty or not as described.

Return Policy For Underwear

I know that this is very dodgy ground.

General hygeine dictates that once tried on, they cannot be returned.

However, I can't find a specific policy for this.

The best I can find is this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/member-behaviour-policies/condition-returned-items-policy?id=47...

Under fashion it states:

  • Sanitary lining cannot be removed from an undergarment

So I'm presuming that the item must first have a lining and not have it removed, in order for the customer to return.  But as with anything else, the reality is, that you can't know that anyway, until the item is returned.

Maybe it's worth clarifying with support.  You might actually get Ireland if you try now.

Normally with underwear you can only return if faulty or INAD once seal of packet has been open but eBay ignore DSR and make up their own rules and go with every return is ok when it  comes to returns. You will end up having to take them back

Yes you are right after some more research it looks like I have to accept the return on eBay. Even though the packet will likely be open and the item probably will be unsellable.

Just one of those things, I have sold 1000's of packets before and never had a return for underwear, plenty for other product types.

I think that most people realist that if they get it wrong, they keep it.

Unfortunately, you will still get the odd one that will do everything they can to get around the system.

Assuming that you have the option, I would at the very least be making a deduction on the refund.

But have you tried simply contacting the customer and saying to them, that it's not possible to accept the return as they have tried them on.  If they understand the reasons why, you never know, they could be reasonable...
