So I had an order, buyer registered in UK, according to user info.
Delivery address is Portugal….. in the UK.
Two issues, I no longer ship to Europe, no postage paid anyway.
How is this possible?
Obviously cancelled and refunded.

I guess they are triers. It must be really hard for the EU people not to be able to buy from the uk anymore or limited stuff to buy…
a few years ago I used to get buyers who were registered in USA but actually lived in China. They were randomly using any American address and when you went to write out the address it was in Chinese. It wasn’t a problem for me then as I posted worldwide, but I guess many didn’t want to post there, hence using a false USA address

It is possible because eBay does not validate delivery addresses. This is despite the fact that Royal Mail have a Postcode Address File (PAF) that would do the job and only requires basic programming skills to integrate into a website. For any address you enter the postcode and - provided the postcode is valid - the rest of the address is pulled from the PAF data. I use it on my own website so customers don't need to type the entire delivery address out and to validate any delivery address given.
I've had residents of the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man who have incorrectly (and likely, deliberately) entered "United Kingdom" in the country field in an attempt to bypass eBay sellers' shipping restrictions. This is the first time I've heard of a buyer in an EU country doing the same thing.

I have buyers in Ireland that select 'United Kingdom' as the country to get round my website shipping restrictions.
As soon as I see the postcode, I know it's RoI. Do they think I'm daft and won't notice?
