Organic Sales Only

I'm curious if anyone is achieving sales solely through organic reach, without relying on promoted listings. I'm considering disabling all my promoted listings since they seem to inflate product prices, leading to fewer sales, and ultimately, neither customers nor sellers benefit. It feels akin to being trapped in a bubble with limited room for growth, especially when compared to other platforms like Amazon selling identical products. I'm eager to learn about the aftermath of ending promotions—do organic sales still hold up, or have they become obsolete?

TIA !!

I have a thread on this here.

As you sell new items that have competition, it could be risky to not promote, but if you have items with no competition you could try and see what happens. If you can afford to you could turn it off completely for a week and just see what happens, keep an eye on all your analytics and metrics.

Re: Organic Sales Only

We promote but only pay 3%. However we do get lots of organic sales and what we found was dropping the promoted listings to 3% from say 7% made no difference at all and they still appeared in the same rank.

Re: Organic Sales Only

Basically....no, we're getting fleeced by ebay properly this past year, all pur suggested promoted rates are now 17.5%, I'm on the verge of giving up, we're just making ebay rich, there robbing us blind, we can't sell organic any more, we sell nothing, and ebay take 40 to 50% with promotions....it's an utter joke.

I remember when it was the best listing got to the top, now they just rinse sellers blind....

Promoted advanced is a waste of money, u less you have a good understanding of keywords...

Re: Organic Sales Only

I've found that there is actually little need to use the promotions.

I do still partly use the standard promotion, but set at a low percentage and am gradually weeding my listings off these entirely.

But I'm constantly adding new listings, so benefit from the intial bump that they get and I rotate the rest of my listings on a regular basis.

So if you are selling the same items, all of the time, it may not work to stop promoting completely.

But the only real way to find out, is to give it a go for a week or two minimum.

Re: Organic Sales Only

Hi,

There is no stopping with promoted listings percentage as they keep going up. As a seller, I try to pass on the savings to the buyer who in turn leaves amazing feedback. At times it might look like the listings are suppressed but eventually buyers will find the listing. Unfortunately, its getting tough for sellers with these ads.

Best of Luck !!

Re: Organic Sales Only

I have at least a third of my items not on promotion and they are still selling and some of them are in competitive categories. I also have a lot of items on low promo rates that are selling. I had a few listings not getting any views at all so i massively upped the promo rate and they are still not getting any views LOL 😂

Take a few items off promo for a while and see what happens.
