Need some help with a return

My other half rarely ever buys anything as I usually buy it for him.

He purchases some ear buds which are not working properly. He opens a case, gets a label. Goes to PO and sends it back.

He has not asked for a replacement. Just wanted his money back.

Today a replacement has arrived which he doesn’t want.

What is supposed to happen here. The seller said close the case.

Ive never been in this position before. So have no idea what happens next…

Re: Need some help with a return

Unfortunately, the seller does not have to accept the return if the new replacement is not faulty. If they decline a return there is not much more you can do, the only case I am aware the seller has to accept return or refund is in Item not as described case.

You could always try to resell the product if your seller is adamant in not accepting return, or you could maybe appeal your case to eBay however I doubt they will be much  use.

Re: Need some help with a return

Do not close the case! You are covered by Ebay MBG and online selling laws. If the item was faulty, then you return for a full refund.

Seller has issued a replacement without your agreement so it is their fault. If they want the replacements back, then they need to send you another label for the postage.

Thankyou. So what about the refund for the original. It was only posted back yesterday. So still in the system..

Re: Need some help with a return

You will receive your refund for the first pair once the item has been returned ( tracked).

Try not to communicate with the seller until you have your refund and then you can ask them for the postage to send the second pair back.

Re: Need some help with a return

Have you checked the case details, to make sure your other half didn't accidentally tick the "replacement please" box?

Assuming he didn't, the refund should happen automatically.  If there is any problem from the seller, it's probably best to contact eBay CS to sort it out.
