Accrington Stanley can confirm the club has received a complaint about an alleged racist incident after the Skybet League Two Match against Newport County on Friday evening.
All evidence is being passed on to the police in order for them to investigate further.
The club has a zero-tolerance policy on racism and will always ban anyone found guilty of such behaviour from our stadium.
Accrington Stanley would like to thank Newport County for their continued support in this matter.
I saw and heard the whole thing.....Didn't want to mention it till it became official. The Newport Player in question is Goal scorer Aaron O'Conner, The only Player I did not get IP in the programme after the game, he was escorted to the Ref's dressing room after his shower and change...that was around 10.25 PM, I apologised on behalf of the true Stanley supporters to all the Newport Players who signed after the game......quite a few heard the comment including Manager Jimmy Dack. I cannot defend the supporter in any shape or form...bang out of order were a dozen or so after the final whistle.....Security personnal escorted the culprit out the ground and to a room to await the Police. Incident had to go into ref's report.
My name and contact details left at the club in case additional evidence is required....Guilty I'm afraid...Sorry to all at Newport County FC...We are not that sort of club.

Sad that a club can be tarnished by the actions of a small minority but well done for standing up and being counted Alex, it isn't always an easy thing to do especially in a group mentality like a football crowd.

Hats off to you mate, there is no room for it in football or any other sport. Lets hope it is sorted with the severity it deserves!

Good for you to stand up to this awful behaviour, Alex. It's the ignorant few who spoil it for the majority and if people like you help to push them out then, respect to you.
