Time to resurrect this thread for anything related to autographed books. I'll kick off with a purchase today -
Born Wild HB 1st by Tony Fitzjohn, OBE
Tony's new book has recently been released and we picked up a signed HB 1st at half price in a British Bookshops & Stationers promotion. Very pleased as Kelly and I were only saying the other day it looked a book we would both enjoy.

Great purchase Nige, that does indeed look like a good read
It's coming up to the time of year for signing events but i have to say there is nothing in the pipeline that has me perspirating with anticipation, there are none in Belfast and nothing of interest happening down in Dublin where i would usually travel down if there were someone i'd like to meet, Dawn French & John Aldridge is about as exciting as it gets this year and not really my cup of tea
Would like to get a Giggs signed book and might ttm a copy soon also the slipcased Michael Caine on Waterstones is interesting me which i might have for Christmas
As for Ebay purchases i picked up a Wayne Rooney signed autobiography last week, wasn't a huge bargain but a fairly decent price nevertheless given he's a difficult one to obtain and it's a rarity to see a genuine one on sale so had to have it for my collection

It is indeed the silly season for book signings. The good news is that it means there will be plenty of good deals on the sale shelves or in the bargain bins in Jan/Feb next year. Poundland and The Works will also have plenty of new stock as a result. 🙂
I'm planning to go to signings by Sheila Steafel and Darren Anderton, and if I can fit it in, possibly Kat Von D.

Thanks for starting the thread again Nigel and well done on your purchase . I have one to show off myself . We went to Elgin for a change today I had a look around the charity shops and bought a couple of Celtic books ( none of them signed ) to add to my collection . We then went to Waterstones where I noticed a pound or less section where I got a limited edition signed and sealed collectors edition of Double or Die by Charlie Higgson for £1

What a great pickup Brian - you never know what ends up in the bargain sections.

Waterstones "bargain bins" are always worth checking for signed books. To them it is irrelevant whether a book is signed or not. If it is not selling, it could end up in a "bargain bin", or on a shelf in The Works or Poundland. 🙂 Borders used to be great for this as well before they went bust.

Thinking about it, my best "bargain bin" find was at Borders. I found 6 copies of The Boy In The Dress signed by David Walliams for £3 each. Best of all, they gave me a further 20% discount for buying multiple books. I gave two away, sold three, and the 6th got sent to Quentin Blake for signing giving me a nice dual signed book -

Bargain buys Nigel and Brian, I also like this thread.

Well the literature festival is up and running here in Cheltenham, So far I have had signings with Jilly Cooper, Graham Norton & Keith Jeffery, who were all extremely nice people. Then last night went to meet Sir Michael Caine, I dont think I have ever met someone so miserable, he never looked up at anyone, never acknowledged anyone, just kept his head down the whole while, oh well. Still plenty more signings this week, inluding Stephen Fry, Ruby Walsh, Nigella Lawson, Harry Hill.......

#18 - Sounds like an interesting time for you. I have never had the pleasure of attending a literary festival. Do the authors sell their books at promotional prices?
re: Sir Michael Caine. I wonder if it was similar to when I met David Carradine and he was just tired and fed up with the signing tour?

They have a Waterstones book tent at the festival where they sell the book at full price, but take a 5 min stroll down the road and Waterstones are selling most for half price, and WH Smiths are half again if you print off the privilege club vouchers from their site!
