quite a fair few of those left Carl for one reason or another. the lady who collected country/and grand old oprey sigs Jane I think she was called I seem to remember her having an arguement and leaving, the partnership one of them was planning for a wedding or something similar to that..did wonder myself though and have noticed the lack of activity I know obviously people have their own lives and are busy but it does seem odd how we've gone from around 25 regulars to maybe about 12-15 or so now

yeh it is a shame they have gone...still got a cracking little

I've noticed the same thing Carl that we're down to about a dozen regulars now.Whilst a few have left for various reasons, other have had a few personal problems or other things which have meant they cannot post as much as before.Hopefully things will pick up.

Sadly this happens on every autograph forum setup since the day dot.
Every time you have a community where there is an attempt to maintain some kind of ethics/standards in collecting, and not promote addresses, after an initial courtship which can be lively, active members drop until you get a core of like minded people who inevitably become friends. Sadly, like the names mentioned, genuinely good people drop off for various personal reasons, but the majority who signup and do not contribute are just trying to find as much freebie info as possible. When they do not find it, they lose interest.
Sites like fanmail may look busy, but they are just feeding a frenzy of locusts eating up every and any address they can get, and sod the consequences if it kills signing opportunities for genuine fans.
On another forum I am on, we felt it was better to have a small group of friends/like minded people who shared info without feeding the locust frenzy, than trying to attract the masses. Most of us on that forum have known each other through it and it's predecessors for about 10/11 years now. I see no reason why friendships made on this forum cannot last as long or longer.
All the active posters on here are fabulous people.

i totally agree guys, there is a cracking little core to this group and everyone who posts regularly nowadays really do it for the love of the hobby and not for any other means, i really do feel that (even tho none of us will probably never actually ever meet) that ive made a fair few mates and long may it continue......right thats enough soppy sap for a lifetime.............in the words of all good lurkers...............SEND ME UNITED ADDRESSES NOW PLEASE.........lol 😄

I've only been on this forum since last year, so I am still quite new. Can I say I'm glad I joined and hopefully more genuine fans will join in the future. I was wondering where those 1714 members were. There must be a lot who have joined up, looked once, and then never come back. I sometimes can only get on the forum once or twice a week, but I really enjoy seeing the replies and the posts that go with them. Cheers to the regulars.

Your right Carl it's a real shame we loose good members and friends as time goes by but it's good we still have a good few regulars still posting . Your also right about the mates we have made on here , who knows we might meet up some day .

im afraid a lot of what nigel said is pretty much the reality, most members who join, want everything on a silver plate,.and when they realise its not forthcoming and need to do a bit of research themselves they dont bother,i chased up members for years, with emails, but got no where, there even to lazy to leave the group in most cases,as regards old regulars who used to post,of the top of my head,,,jeremy, creefan, swain, pete harbourcourt, steve, jane, the american dude who liked premiershp and usa football,,theres dozens of them

i will send out invites, see if we can catch a few who are really intrested enough to post and contribute:-)lets us not forget we are still the most active group on ebay, and the only autograph group to be still functioning,so we must still be doing something right:-)

I've just popped in to say hello. I used to post around 2004 in a forum we called the mill. It was a group trying to achieve a million posts. My name in those days was mad mare

ebay made it impossible to invite members who buy autographs,,they encrypted the user names ..also 85 per cent of invites never contributed,,,it was hard work getting people to post,,except for the few regulars,,i started the group in 2008 and worked building it up for ten years or so until i got health problems
