Got one today that I was really hoping would come back.
Charlie Davies was a young, fast, quickly rising striker for the USA national team and for Ligue 1 side Sochaux. He led us to the final of the 2009 confederations cup and through all of our world cup qualifying. On the night before the last qualifier, Davies was in a horrible car accident with his friends, in which the driver died and Davies almost did himself. He suffered many broken bones in his face, arms, and legs, inner bleeding and also bleeding in his brain.
He was told by his doctors and experts that he would never play again. However, he surprised everyone by making an incredible recovery, and 1 year and 5 months later stepped on the field for the first time since his accident with DC United in the MLS, scoring 2 goals.
He has been in excellent form ever since, leading the MLS is goals and playing at a very high level. He is very close to being back with the USA national team.
His story has been extremely inspirational to me, which is why im so happy with this result.
