Douglas Slocombe

Really pleased with this one.  I got my 10x8 back from Douglas Slocombe this morning.

Douglas was the Cinematographer on, amongst others, the first three Indiana Jones films and Never Say Never Again.  He is now 97 years old so I didnt really expect to get this one back.

I also recieved a nice note from his wife apologising for the delay (only 66 days - not a delay in my book) and explaining that Mr Slocombe has now lost 90% of his sight and can't read or write on his own.  I'm sure it wasn't her intention but it made me feel quite guilty about writing to him.

WHAT REALLY NICE PEOPLE AND A WONDERFUL PIC AND BEAUTIFUL NOTE. SHE WAS EVEN GOING TO RING YOU ONLY YOU WERE NOT IN THE DIRECTORY, I DONT THINK ANY GUILT FOR YOU WAS INTENDED, THEY FELT GUILTY FOR TAKING SOO LONG AND LIKE YOU 66 DAYS IS NOT LONG.

THAT REALLY IS A QUALITY RESULT GREG, 97YRS OLD, SIGHT AND HEARING ALMOST GONE AND WORRIED ABOUT KEEPING HIS FANS WAITING.

I HAVE BEEN AT THIS HOBBY OVER A YEAR NOW AND THIS IS THE NICEST/BEST RESULT I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE TO READ. CONGRATULATIONS GREG AND MR AND MRS SLOCOMBE.

Brilliant! Truly a special reply. Great pic by the way. I know how you feel about not wanting to disturb people who are old or unwell. I felt similar about my ttm reply from Sir John Mills as you can see from the scribble he managed, it was not easy for him to sign my photo. I did not know this at the time, and it is the same for you with Douglas, so treasure the success, and know he wanted you to have the autograph despite his problems. Well done Greg.
