I sent three cards to Chic Charnley at Clyde FC last week , I got all three cards back signed today unfortunatley Chic signed the back of the cards and the ink has come off and smudged the front .
Lifelong Celtic supporter Chic Charnley played one game for Celtic against Manchester United in a testimonial for Mark Hughes he was asked after the game by the then Celtic manager Lou Macari to go with Celtic on a pre season tour of America but he went on a club holiday with Partick Thistle instead thinking Celtic would get back in touch but they never did Chic regrets his decision to this day .Chic played for a number of clubs: Ayr United, Clydebank, Hamilton Accies, Partick Thistle St. Mirren, Bolton (on loan), Djurgårdens IF, Dumbarton, Dundee, Hibs and Cork City F.C. he was sent off 17 times in his career
If you see his book Seeing Red I would advise you to buy it and read it it's a brilliant book with great stories like during his time at Partick, he and two other players were approached by two teenage boys during a training session in a Glasgow Park. Despite suffering a stab wound to his hand when one of the boys brandished a Samurai sword, Charnley was able to disable his attacker with a punch.

Pity about the smudge but that's a great result from what sounds like a real character.

Nice result Brian.
Great character Chick. I spent time with him when I was younger. Great guy to have around the training ground. I remember that night in Manchester well. He was the best player on the pitch, and that pitch included Eric Cantona.
Well Done 🙂
