My fourth knock knock of the week proved positive and if I am honest more satisfying than many others. I knocked on the door of a Roger Miller who I hoped would be the one who played for us only four times between 1956 and 1959. At first because of the look of bewilderment I presumed it wasn't him but he suddenly became animated when I can only presume he realised it wasn't a wind up. 😄
Roger lives less just a few hundred yards from our ground so even though I didn't get to him till 2.10pm I was still able to spend 25 minutes with him talking about his time at the club and in football in general. Once again, he was an absolute gent and great company. Thank you Roger.
I haven't got the signatures in the book of two players from the 50's in the same week in a very long time.

The purcase, £12 from ebay, is a signature by Frederick 'Fanny' Walden who only played for us on 21 occassions making his debut over 110 years ago but is a legendary player for us just because you couldn't find more Northamptonshire than him and he went on to great things in sport and returned to finish his professional football career with us. He also played for the county at cricket.

#5 It is certainly precious to me Greg, I am being 100% honest when I say I hadn't given its rarity and value a thought but now you mention it I guess there should be some Tottenham collectors interested in it.


A couple of rums had obviously befuddled my mathematical brain. It was 101 years since he first played for us.

The main reason I was so pleased to get Rogers signature in my book is it is all the more difficult to trace the players with so few professional appearances and having made them as far back as the 50's just compounds the problem.
