Just had this tracking message for an ebay hermes parcel.

At National sorting hub

2nd November Delay due to major event.

Any one know what has happened and if it is sensible to send any more parcels via hermes at the moment?

It usually means that something has happened to temporarily halt operations. It could be a fire, a power cut, a flood (vast areas of the UK have been suffering very heavy rain and high winds for several days now), but who knows. The only way to know is to contact Hermes and ask (if the information hasn't been posted on their website).

I was informed via the chat option that they have had an internal problem and that all depots are having to relabel all parcels. Tracking international is a waste of time because it shows that it is waiting drop off by sender. It was collected at home by courier on 9-01-2021.

I was told to give them another few days as they are working hard to resolve the problem. If it goes on much longer I can see a claim going in. Might be the only way to get any action.

Waste of time using Hermes as they are always having the same problem, over a year ago there was a message saying Major Disruption, ordered something which was due to be delivered by Heremes (which I didin't know at the time) and get the same message.

If they havn't sorted out a major problem within a year it doesnt bode well for a big company.

It was ev eentually sorted and the parcel was delivered. Generally speaking
Hermes are very good.
