As a seller should I be concerned if a buyer has 0% feedback and a fake name?

Hi.

As a seller, should I be concerned if a buyer has 0% feedback and a fake name?. The seller has 0 feedback (created 25th Dec) and they are calling themselves my sweetheart in french (That's not their username). The buyer has payed quickly through Paypal though after the auction. I'm assuming It won't be an issue if I have proof of postage incase the buyer is dodgy right? Just wanted to check.

how many points did you start with ?.

Is your user name not also fake ?.

If Paypal says it's safe to send then you do just that.

You should send tracked if it's of a reasonable value or above.

You cannot do anything as a seller to protect yourself 100%.

If your buyer has 0 feedback or 1000 points you can still be scammed.

The one rule i always went by is don't list anything you cannot afford to lose.

I no longer sell here and i never will again.

I mean their actual name is fake on ebay (not talking about their username). They have their name as Ma Cherie.

I started with 0 feedback, so did you, so did we all.

More and more people are opening eBay accounts, or using dormant ones to buy on line, lockdown giving them litlle, or not other option to purchase items.

Send items fully insured and tracked, and post only to the address showing in the Paypal transaction for the item.

Any item of great value I would sell as a collection only item and on the listing making it clear that after purchase , cash is preferred.

Again with a country in lockdown, those items might have to be put on hold before listing for ......... ?

What do you mean by "Fake Name"? Within reason a member can have whatever ID they want to use.

aka_ranunculus is that your real name or a Fake???? How many feedback did you have when you started?

If your buyer has registered using a false real name (not just a peculiar username) you should certainly be concerned.

I don't think that anyone has asked this question before, but I'm sure that if we checked the user agreement this will nor be allowed.

The chances are that it's just someone inexperienced trying to be clever (or careful?), rather than a scam. Why not message them to point out that members can't trade anonymously on eBay? You can't be expected to post the item to "my sweetheart"!

The bottom line is whether you go ahead with the sale. Does the PayPal transaction give their real name? If the PP account looks regular and the item is fairly low value there's probably not much risk.

p.s. by proof of postage I trust you mean proof of delivery? PoP means nothing on eBay.
