Question Re: Buyer abusing returns in Selling on eBay DND

can't see any of the computers you sold marked as spares or repair.- but the buyer will win a not as described case if in time.

In any event they can claim that your no returns means nothing as you are a business seller trading as a private seller.

Buyer abusing returns

I sold a laptop about a month ago and clearly listed it was working but had known faults and so because of this it was sold as spares or repair with no refunds. Unfortunately it developed a fault after the buyer forced a shutdown and they say it has stopped working, the buyer has now opened a return and having spoken to someone in customer service it appears that as always with Ebay they favour the buyer and I will have no option but to accept the return. The customer rep has opened a complaint for me with Ebay, but I expect this will just be ignored and nothing will be heard from them again. I am not happy that I will have to refund the buyer for something I sold as spares or repair. I don't want to let this drop as I will lose out on the sale, postage and paypal fees, has anyone got contact details for Ebay to open a small claims court case for my loses. I am just fed up with the way they treat sellers.

@plpmr it isn't anything I am listing at the moment and everything I am listing is a private sale and not as a business seller. The laptop in question was actually my sister in laws old laptop and everything I have listed is either goods I have purchased as an individual for my own use or my families; or you can believe this or not they were given to me.

unfortunately, the returns process is automatic and 99.9% of buyer disputes are won. it`s worth a go, but i would give Ebay a ring and explain the situation, but make a point of refering them to your messages where the buyer states it developed the fault after shutting it down incorrectly, which even doing that, should`nt stop it working, so by that statement by them, means it was As described when it arrived and you did point out the other faults.
it`s worth a shot and at least you tried 🙂 Lets just hope if it`s returned, you get back what you sent and how you sent it!

Thanks Knight-rider, I think reluctantly I will have to accept it back. I think their system just automatically finds in the buyers favour if the return isn't approved. I suspect a human doesn't even look at these cases.
