Question Re: royal mail click and Drop postage Labels in Selling on eBay DND

Many thanks for your detailed response which I really appreciate.

I am defintely going to register myself first and change my account to business before I start selling. My question is with you downlodaing this RM proof of posting form and filling all details for all parcels including addresses etc- does post office ever question this that why they have to do this extra work? or is this something they are already aware happily do it. The idea I got was when I was helping my friend to lift his parcels etc to post office and when they were adding stamps on they always said why don't you use click and drop etc which I don't like due to long bulky labels and extra details on.

Have you ever had instances where a parcel is lost and you have to share proof of posting with your customer? I am sure nobody likes to share all their parcel details on Proof of posting with customer? so how would you confirm this with your customer?
Your idea about buying my own stamps is wonderful I will have to look around to find cheaper stamps which won't be easy I am sure. Do you have any suggestions regarding that.

Finally how do people print 1st and 2nd class stamps at home. I have seen few parcels where you can easily tell this label was printed using personal printer etc? How do people dop that.

Again thanks for your help and suggestions.

Hello

I am very new to ebay and looking to sell some item very shortly. The thing I am very confused about is postage and label generate.

I would like to know how people send items in bulk e.g if I sell 10 items every day - I cannot got to post office as they saying I need to print my own labels at home and bring them here for proof of posting. This is mainly because my local post office is very busy and they would not produce proof of posting. I then tried Click and drop service from RM but label printed is too big with my address and cost of label on it? I don't want my buyers to know that I am selling items with this amount of posting? How can I avoid that or is there a way to avoid this?

Finally I would like to know how people print their stamps at home where they send parcel with their own stamp with 2 written on it for 2nd class and 1 for first class? How do they generate this.

Please can some one help me ?

Thanks

Whatever service you use, you need to get Proof of Posting receipts at the Post Office. You need them to lodge claims with Royal Mail for loss or damage in transit, and for Unauthorised Account Use claims. And you need to keep them for 13 months.

I buy my postage labels direct from my chosen carriers online, not on Ebay. If I've quite a lot of orders to dispatch in one day, I list them on a Certificate of Posting form (you can download one at royalmail.com). The counter clerk at the PO then quickly checks each package off against the list, and date-stamps the form. Quick and easy.

As you're planning to list a lot of items and hoping to sell a lot each day, that suggests you're a business. Private accounts are only for those selling off their old no longer wanted possessions. Anyone who makes, grows, refurbishes, or buys in (new or used) items to sell, is a business and must be registered as such. Not only an Ebay requirements but the law. For confirmation, go to Ebay's Seller Centre (link at foot of any page). For full information, go to the government's website. And note that there is no such thing as a 'hobby seller', or a 'just trying it out to see how it goes' seller. How much or how little you sell or make is totally irrelevent, so you must upgrade your account from private to business before you list anything for sale.

@bright_star84
