Local pick up, cash on collection

I have potentially sold a high priced item.(high price for me that is!) and the guy is coming to pick it up later today.

He is bringing the cash which means I avoid Paypal fees. Obviously I will put the transaction through the correct channels but how do I do this, how do I mark it as "sold" after I have the cash and he has the item? We agreed the price etc in "messages" I have since sent him the offer through ebay and hope he responds before he sets off to pick it up. But he may not and I want to do the correct thing. Advice please.

Your buyer has to accept the offer through the correct eBay channels. You will not be able to exchange contact details otherwise.

If you try to before purchase, then eBay bots will pick this up, and you both face restrictions.

So message you buyer they need to accept the offer and then contact details can be exchanged.

eBay charge their fees the second an item sells, and not when the buyer pays you.

He has to accept your offer before he comes to collect. You cannot exchange any contact details before he has officially commited to the purchase through Ebay. IF you exchange any contact details pre sale through Ebay..the bots will pick it up and both of you run a high risk of having your accounts suspended either temporarily or permanently 😞

Once they have done the above.....they call, you show them the item and if happy they pay you cash and then leave.

Then you go to More Actions to the right of your sold item. This is a drop down bar where you can mark the item as payment received and also despatched.

If it is the Casserole Dish in your Completed Listings which does include Postage. EBay will charge you 10% Final Value Fees on that Selling Price.

He has to buy BEFORE seeing. If it is not what is wanted then you have to cancel the sale.

If he is satisfied then he pays and you mark as paid and dispatched. Before marking as paid however you must issue a new invoicewith postage shown as 0.00, then you do not get charged the selling fee on the postage.

Doing it any other way and ebay see it as Fee Avoidance and you would be likely to get suspended.

Thanks to all who responded. We did it all correctly, the guy accepted the offer, he has collected the item and I have marked it as paid.
