What is the money back guarantee eligibility period?

HI, I've been contacted almost 2 months after the sale of a mobile phone asking for a refund, saying it is faulty. How long does a buyer have under the Ebay Money Back Guarantee to do this?

30 days from delivery through ebay

180 days from sale through paypal

30 days from date of delivery with ebay and 180 days with paypal.

However,they can probably still open a claim with ebay but they won't be able to escalate it and you don't have to accept any request to return.

If they open a claim with paypal it could go either way but generally paypal won't get involved either once a certain amount of time has passed so it is more than likely that a paypal claim would also fail for them.

PayPal protection runs for 180 days from the date of payment.

With the managed payments option what will happen if a problem like this occurs especially the 180 day paypal idea.

Will all payment providers offer 180 days.

On Ebay, a buyer has 30 days from the last delivery estimate on the order in which to open an Item Not Received or Not As Described case, and the same length of time in which to open a return request. You can read Ebay's 30-day Money Back Guarantee for yourself (on every listing and in various other places across the site).

On PayPal, a buyer has 180 days from purchase date in which to open an INR or NAD case. Most card providers offer a similar timeframe. However, this length of time is to cover items which have been shipped from another country, as they can sometimes take months to arrive. So if your buyer is also in the UK, PayPal will wonder why it's taken him 2 months to report a faulty phone, as, like Ebay, their buyer protection policies can only cover items which buyers can see are faulty, damaged. or not as described on receipt. In other words, they are unlikely to accept the claim as genuine.

Unauthorised Account Use claims can be made for up to 13 months (because many account holders only receive their statements annually), so make sure you keep all your Proof of Posting receipts for at least that length of time, as that is the ONLY thing a payment processor will accept for such a claim.
