Bid retraction no reason given

I've just had a bid retracted on one of my items. I was informed of this by email from eBay and told to click on bidding history to see the reason, but there's no sign of that bidder or any reason. I haven't altered my listing and I have other bidders but am just wondering if it's now perfectly acceptable to bid and then retract it without any challenge. It rather defeats the point of an auction - I've had people contact me before who've made an offer and then withdrawn it because they made a mistake and I've understood that, but they've had the courtesy to contact me. If bidders can get away with retracting bids it's very bad business practice.

Bidders can retract their bids as many times as they wish nowadays,i have seen many with 100's of bid retractions but ebay thinks it's o.k. for them to do this without any comeback.

You no longer get the option to see the reason.

As an example,this is the worst i have seen.

The bidder who retracted their bid on your watches has retracted 755 bids in past 6 months yet ebay do nothing.

Thanks for the reply - I was unaware of that! I’m not happy but not surprised - sellers don’t seem to have much backing, which is a shame.

My goodness that’s ridiculous! Retracting 755 bids and no action taken...words fail. Thank you for letting me know. I couldn’t trace whoever made the bid or their history. Can’t believe this is acceptable to eBay, it’s really bad.

"You no longer get the option to see the reason." Typical as soon as something gets out of control, ebay give up and just make it easy for time wasters without really having to supply a reason. Just as the ability to report invalid Bid retractions has gone.
