Hi

buy Delivery on Ebay is showing an invalid address and wont offer me a shipping option. Looking at the address I can see it is too long (two lines are over 35 characters).

I have approached the buyer and asked him to adjust his shipping address but he says his address is different to that on the shipping form. I dont want to edit it and lose my seller protection. The item is relitively high value. I dont want to upset the buyer if he is genuine but dont want to be ripped off if he is not genuine.

Whats the best advice please. many thanks

Check the address given with the payment confirmation in your PayPal account which is the only delivery address you should use for seller protection. Jewellery items over £50.00 need sending by Royal Mail Special Delivery with adequate compensation cover.

The address on the Ebay order confirmation is the buyer's Ebay-registered address. It is not the shipping address.

The shipping address is provided by PayPal, the payment processor, on the PayPal payment confirmation email. This is the address you MUST ship to, and no other. If the buyer doesn't want it shipped there, then you must cancel the Ebay transaction ('problem with buyer's address'). That will auto-refund the buyer, and credit the Ebay selling fee back to your Ebay account. You then relist, so that the buyer can buy again, this time using the correct address at checkout.

@sahu20

Hi again. The paypal transaction doesnt state an address at all like it does usually. It just gives a transaction number. I can press the print postage label button but it just gives me a form to fill in. I'm confused why this transaction doesnt follow the usual format for paypal. Usually I get a confirmatory email from 'Service@paypal' but this email is from 'Buyers name via paypal'. And notification of payment received rather than instant payment. The money is there but the address is not. Should I just refund this guy or am I just being over cautious/ thanks for you time. Sahu
