UPS Ireland charging 100% UK customs charges

Hi, I've bought on ebay a second hand graphics card for 28eur, and Ups Ireland before delivering is asking me to pay 26.50eur charge saying it's UK/Brexit customs charge.. Is this normal or they're trying to rip me off, as almost 100% charge doesnt seem right.. ??

as you are in Eire you need to check/look it up on the Eire customs website.

yes i did check Irish revenue and Customs website, and it says the max i could have been charged is 21% VAT as the item cost is over €22 and no any other taxes, since the total value including delivery costs are less then €150. My total cost with shipping was €38.09, so even if the VAT was applied to the Total with shipping, the max charge should be no more than €8. Am I missing something?

UPS (or any other shipping carrier) will also charge you a handling fee and possibly VAT over this fee. They can't work for free, though this seems a little high to me too. UPS isn't the cheapest carrier and they are "King" in surcharges.

UPS will also charge a handling fee.

Some carrier charge £20 admin fee, perhaps UPS also has a really high one.
