Seller refusing to cancel bid

Hi, I recently asked a seller to cancel my bid ( £10 item no other bids). She waited until just less than 24 hours before auction end and messaged me - I can’t cancel less than 24 hours end’. I asked for a link to this ruling and was ignored. By the time I read the message it was less than 12 hours and I could not retract my bid.
*Please clarify / provide link - is it true a seller cannot cancel a bid is less than 24 hours TIL end of auction ?

You can cancel bid yourself, but if not valid reason, seller can report you.

No, seller can cancel right up to the end, but seller is not obliged to cancel.

When you bid you commit to pay if you win. If you win and don't pay she can open an Unpaid Case. If change of mind was a reason for retracting bids then there would be the option for you to retract.

It is up to YOU to retract a bid, not the seller, so that the bid retraction is logged on your account and on your 'feedback as a buyer' page.

However, if the seller is a UK business seller, they are obliged to accept order cancellations. If this is the case, and you win the auction, then ask the seller to cancel the transaction before they can ship.

If the seller is not a UK business seller, then you are required to pay if you win, as contracted. If you don't, the seller will open an Unpaid Item case against you to get the Ebay selling fee credited back to their Ebay account. And you will receive an Unpaid Item strike on your account. One won't hurt, but another one will prevent you from buying from most Ebay sellers for 12 months. So you should pay, and sell the item on yourself if you no longer want it when it arrives.

There are very few valid reasons indeed for bid retractions, and they don't include change of mind, found it cheaper elsewhere, can no longer afford it, just won a similar item with another seller, or failure to properly read the listing before bidding. So before you bid in future, make 100% sure that you want the item and can pay for it.

I did not know I had to retract not the seller. Once it became clear there was less than 12 hours and could not. I’ve since paid for the item 5 days ago and still not dispatched! My question is this - the seller told me she couldn’t cancel the bid because there was less than 24 hours Until the bid. I don’t believe this. ( my change was to do with the poor photograph not being the shade of pink I expected from the description ). I explained this. I feel bullied by her short responses and non dispatch. It puts me off using the site.
