I sent to Barry Humphries 14/2/12 and had a reply today. I asked if he could get the mega-star that is Dame Edna to sign as well. 😄

Nice one Suzanne. You did the right thing sending pics as Barry and Dame Edna separately. If you just send something character related, he normally just signs as the character - Dame Edna being the obvious favourite. Great to see him sign his own autograph.

As fun as characters like this are, I am not a fan of character signed autographs. When Steve Coogan and Leigh Francis were signing their respective Alan Partridge and Keith Lemon books last year, they were signing them as the character. I can see why, but would have felt cheated personally had I queued for an autograph. I have seen EastEnder cast members do this over the years as many people confuse character with cast member blurring reality.

Obviously it is fine for many, and that is good as it is still a valid autograph in that person's handwriting, but I like my 100% "real person" autographs. 🙂

Nigel. I had heard he likes to sign as a character so I thought I'd play on that to get the graph I really wanted. I rather like the Dame Edna card though. It's a bit of fun.
