If you are trying to get it touch with Mark Knopfler it is worth looking up Steve Phillips' website. Steve is an excellent blues guitarist and artist -- and is a very good friend of Mark Knopfler having known him since his youth and played with him on numerous occassins -- in the early days as "The Duolian Pickers" and more recently in the "Notting Hillbillies". It was Steve's National guitar that appeared on the front of the "Brothers In Arms" L.P. and kicked off the craze for National steels amongst pop fans. I was playing a National "Singing Palms" steel myself when Brothers In Arms was released and it always used to amuse me when people asked me if it was a "Mark Knopfler guitar". ( Nationals date back to the late 1920s )

Another way to track down Marl Knopfler is via Bob Benedetto, the American luthier, who also knows him well. Check out the Benedetto websiteIt is worth conacting Steve Philips and Bob Benedetto to see if they will forward on a letter to Knopfler for you.
