Envelope Stiffener

Just traced some envelope stiffeners from Challenor Marketing, much better that using mountboard or cardboard to support your photo. Tried them several times and so far my postie has failed to bend the photos... success. Work out about 23p for a 10X8.

I used to use them about 8/9 years ago, but they are an expensive solution for a basic need that can be met in far simpler ways.

Problem is though, Nigel, if you use cardboard then the postie can still bend it - mine managed to anyhow, when I used to collect a lot TTM! One of the reasons I stopped is because I got fed up of bent signed photos coming through my letterbox all the time! X-(

When I was sending out more regularly, if it was something I was really keen to get signed I'd definitely use a proper envelope stiffener - just to make sure.

The idea is they come back to you, so you can use them again. I find it difficult to comprehend using corrugated cardboard, cornflake boxes etc when sending out expensive items. It seems a false economy.

I recycle comic backing boards, all sorts of card from board backed envelopes, boxes, etc - never corrugated or creased (you would have to be mad to use anything without a smooth surface). Have done for years, and am more than happy with the result, including a huge collection of signed stiffeners. 🙂 When I did try challoner stiffeners, I had a couple of damaged in the post so never saw the value versus home made stiffeners, and never will.

Definitely not a false economy for me. You would have to be wealthy or a fool to spend 23p on a stiffener. 🙂

ive moved from the tescos cardbacked at 40p each as theyve gotten very flimsy and now onto whsmiths,£3.99 for 5 plus buy another 5 half price,not cheap but really stiff card,i'll send you one if you order something 😉
