Introduction

Just wanted to say hello - long time collector but just found and joined the group today

My collections are quite wide ranging but focused primarily on Star Wars, england football and rugby, lord of the rings and anything else that takes my fancy

Had a lot of successes over the years but get bored of my card designs and decided to recreate them a year or two ago - my England collection currently stands at 51 ( john ruddy my latest success ) after receiving over 200 successes on my last cars designs

Will try and post some scans when I get chance - would be very interested in discussing the addresses you guys are using for older players - that era is a gaping hole in my collection that I would like to improve

Welcome to the group sounds like you will get on with a few of the collectors on here Star Wars England collection and older retired players.
Should be able to get help there but will say you do get out of the group what you put in to the group .

Thanks for the reply - I've been looking through some of the older posts and saw a lot of people posting successes from people who are aligned with my collections which is why I thought it could be beneficial to join

I'm hoping that I can contribute positively to the group and improve mine and other's collections

Help is always on offer to those who make the effort to contribute to the group. I know I've benefitted from the advice of fellow members on here.

Welcome to the group Mal, im sure you'll have no problems help wise on here theres a great bunch of members. Alot of ex players can reply via former clubs usually the last one they played for, I find a quick email to the club works well just asking the question if they have a forwarding address and that way your not guessing and wasting stamps and photos etc.

Hi Mal. Good to have you onboard. As the others have said there's some great members on here who are always willing to help out with those that contribute. There's probably a core group of around 8-9 members who post and comment most days. You should be able to get help with most of what you collect.

Thank you all for the warm welcome - I'll get some scans posted over the next few days as I track down where I've saved them. The only one I've got on my memory stick with me was my most recent England Rugby success ( Rory Underwood )

This is the design I use for both England Rugby and England football and will use for England cricket when I get round to it, but I have a number of other designs I use for other collections - I make them myself ( though often recreate other designs that I've seen and liked - these are based on some Upper Deck hockey cards I had ). I like uniformity so my ultimate aim is to create cards for every England player ever, finding decent resolution photos is the hardest part and the biggest stumbling block

welcome mal , alan here, hope you are going to be a asset to the group nice design for your cards , bit like myself and brian (obree) on here we do them kind of cards you will know my cards but brian finds some obscure scottish bloke and says hes played for scotland ?never heard of half of them

Thanks again for all of the responses, going to start a couple of threads today for my collections - hopefully you don't mind but it would let me show some of the successes and then continue to update the thread with each request rather than starting a new thread for each success.

Hi Mal and welcome

I haven't replied up to now because I haven't been around much lately, totally snowed under at work so not had chance to keep up to date with the board.

Your cards are very impressive across all of your collections. Are they done on something like photoshop to get the cutout and shadow effects? They look great however you achieve it.

As a lifelong Forest fan I particularly like your Pearce, Stone and Anderson ones from the England footballers collection. I collect a range of things but am mainly focused on Dr Who and Harry Potter at the moment. O the sport side I like collecting all things Forest and also league managers. I've had mixed results from Forest recently but am hoping that now that we have the great Pearce in charge things will be better than under his predecessor. Pearce is certainly a great signer himself! I tend to collect on normal photographs but your cards are quite inspiring, maybe I could try out my creativity at some point.

Anyway welcome, I hope to be here a bit more from now on and look forward to seeing more of your collection.

Everyone else, sorry for my lack of contribution to the board. Loads of issues have kept me away. On a positive note, I finally got a couple of replies last week after ages with nothing so will try to post those later today.
