Ian tbh ive stayed clear of the Euro 2012 edition simply for the reason that it has been totally mass-produced and im sceptical whether they are a good long-term investment - others may disagree 🙂

Dont get me wrong i do think the album and quality of stickers are excellent and is one of the better collections in recent years but i have stopped myself investing in them.

I look at the South Africa 2010 edition - 2 years have past and you can still pick up a sealed box for less than £10 - sometimes a lot cheaper. These have been mass-produced on a scale never seen before and although admittedly i have quite a few completed albums in my collection i dont think they will be a tremendous investment in years to come.

Going back to your question on German/European editions of the Euro 2012 edition i really dont know if there will be a great difference between the 2. I did notice that the German edition was the first to really come down in price on Ebay. Whether that was deliberately done because they are inferior to the European edition i couldnt really tell you.

Euro 2012 stock

Hi guys,

I was just wondering, is it worth to invest in the latest Euro edition and stock a couple of sealed boxes for future sale?

What is the best investment? purchasing complete sets and store or buying boxes and spend couple of hours to open, sort and store the sets?

Currently I was watching the below listing,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121022412943?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

12 boxes are selling around Eur50 for all exclusive of postage. Is it worth or shall we wait a bit longer so that prices can go down?

Will there be any difference in purchasing the german version and not the european/UK?

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Alec,

I share your view on the WC 2010 set. It seems that the price has not increase. On the other hand, I am noticing a small increase on the 2006 and 2008 sets.

The prices are going up on the previous version mainly from 1998 to 2004. I did not stock that much from that era as I started to purchase again panini items in the last year. I am struggling to find a good deal on ebay related to loose sets. Locally I also cannot find loose stickers around. Only complete albums with quite some handling marks on them which are not quite worth investing in.

I agree that the last Euro was a mass production from Panini. I do think that in the years to come, there will be no real return on these albums. For a good return we need to grab hands on 10 yrs + albums.

From my end I hold 3 sets of 2010 world cup and a couple of sealed boxes. Right now I have no intention to sell them as I would merely get the price I bought them yet.

Just one small ques.. apart from ebay, is there any other source to purchase old sets with a reasonable price. I have tried to search the web but it seems that the market is ebay oriented.

Cheers,

Ian

Ian tbh i think Ebay is the only outlet for Panini items. I have also searched the internet for other alternative outlets but with no success. Maybe other's might know of other sources???

In my experience it is best to buy big bulk lots on ebay sort them into a set then sell the swaps. Some times people dont list there items very well and you can get a good price and when you sell on always make sure list all the numbers you are selling and you should get a better price. This way you can keep the cost down.

the same happens with every release its just the pre ebay days releases - pre 2002 never saw the scale of production as well as sales through the internet. Germany 2006 boxes were still going for under a tenner 4 years after and I can still get them in bulk cheaper then this yet you can sell a box for twenty. its all about the unit cost. Have managed to pick up 2010 boxes for a fiver and will sit on them for a few world cups and then decide to make sets or sell as sealed.

I recently swapped a france 98 box for 24 2010 boxes, and the france box only cost me £50,
