Hello, On a recent trip to South Africa I was shown a unique set of porcelain pieces that the owner and I are very curious about. I told her I would try to find out what this object is and what it might be worth or please indicate where I might proceed to investigate. On the base is 202 and a curved design in black. The piece has surface cracks.

From memory...approximately 12-15 inches tall. Note the pen in the background for size.

Also about that same size in width.I think there should be a third piece that resembles the one one the left.

Thank you in advance. The photos are attached.

Kornershoppe

Yes I think it is two parts of a garniture and I guess there should be a clock in the middle circle. Other than to say I don't think these are English, I can't really help. German maybe?

Hi,

I know the thread was started a long time ago but I've just discovered the group and am enjoying going through some of these old messages.

With reference to your piece there would certainly have been a right hand model to make up the garniture, and it looks like it was possibly a pocket watch stand, at the end of the day the master of the house would have taken his pocket watch from his waistcoat and placed it in the aperture and made himself an instant mantle clock
