I’m so disappointed with eBay. After dealing with an incredibly dishonest seller I had to open a dispute for an item not matching the description.

He tried to sell me a third hand camera as a 1 month old camera. He also promised a receipt in the description but only provided a fake one. To make things worse, he later accused me of not returning all the accessories in order to grant only a partial refund.

Thankfully, eBay understood the situation and issued a full refund.

After such an ugly experience, I left a negative feedback in order to protect the community. I work hard to keep my 100% positive feedback, and I would never dream of lying in an item description, let alone in chat.

My feedback wasn’t abusive and only stated facts that actually happened and can be proven with private messages and photos. Despite that, he somehow managed to get it removed. How?

Is this really what it comes to? I guess from today I should start scamming people too, since it apparently takes just one call to get your record wiped understood?

My plan is to send a formal complaint via post.
If this problem is not resolved, I plan to delete my eBay account, which I have had for over 20 years.

Negative feedback is one of the few options we have to protect ourselves from dishonest sellers. Taking away this protection is a worrying move, which makes me think that transparency is not a priority.

This may be the reason why some sellers have 100% positive feedback, even though they have dubious trading practices.

If message 2 is about the moderator - they are a separate company to ebay (in my understanding).

There is a published policy about what you can and can't say in feedback (even if true) and others on these boards have mentioned feedback removals if you talk about any case/refund etc.

Item was materially misrepresented. Described as two months old with receipt. Receipt was only produced after repeated requests and proved to be 8 months old, issued to a different name and address, rendering the item ineligible for warranty registration.

I exercised my right to return.

Seller initially refused, then accepted, then alleged missing contents and issued a partial refund.

eBay reviewed the facts and refunded me in full.

Proceed with caution.

I was more than willing to speak with an eBay representative and review all evidence together, including photos, receipts, and full message logs, but they removed straight away.
I'll be sending a formal complain by post today, that's how much I care about not letting him/her get away with it.
I know they won't put it back on, I'm ready to leave the platform.

That's the reason your feedback was removed.

Any mention of eBay involvement cannot be mentioned.

It may have been removed for that reason but it really shouldn't have been as that clause was removed from eBay's Feedback Policy over a year ago.

Its getting harder and harder to leave transparent and honest feedback on eBay, it's depressing.
