Ebay App Issue - “Something Gone Wrong”

I can’t log in the app on my IPad or IPhone , have restarted the app, changed password and restarted the device . Anyone else ? I’m a business and need to list items 😡

Can you sign in using a browser instead of the app?

Neither can I, I’m on an IPhone 16 and this appears to have happened following the last update. My Face ID just spins, and when typing username and password manually I get a “Something went wrong” error.

Ebay works on my browser but it’s far from practical.

Hi, yes it works on both my phone and my wife’s iPad . I am on the latest
version on iPad .

Same here for me too - cannot login on iPhone app but logins in on a browser fine just get the message “something went wrong” when I try to login via the app

please sort this for people selling this is unacceptable, makes it very hard to view on a phone browser and a lot more effort it seems this issue has been going on for years if you search but never a fix!

Hi, I’m a business seller and it drove me potty . I use my iPad for listing
as the website is useless to me. I ended up going back to factory settings
and reloading everything including EBay back up . It worked . If all else
fails give it a try .

Hey thanks for the reply glad you got it sorted - this is on a iPhone so I’m not going to do a hard reset and lose everything just for eBay, I guess I’ll have to log in via a desktop computer instead

hopefully they will come up with a actual solution and reason as to why this is happening all of a sudden as I’ve had the app and iPhones since day dawn

Instead of a hard reset, try uninstalling the eBay app, restarting your phone, then installing the latest version of the eBay app. The restart in between should ensure a clean install.

Hey thanks for this - it has actually fixed it!

Uninstalled app from phone, restarted phone then shut it down also

booted back up reinstalled eBay app and voila it’s now working straight away!

thanks for this it’s appreciated, no idea why it wasn’t working obviously a glitch somewhere but following those exact steps did work for me - I’ve tried just deleting app and reinstalling a few times and nothing so guessing the key was deleting it then restarting and installing it again after that

Glad to hear that worked! Thanks for following up to confirm.

Sometimes an update does not install cleanly. When that happens, it can prevent further updates from installing automatically later on, even if there are no apparent problems or errors at the time. At some point the old version stops working correctly and problems are noticed, but it may not be obvious what is going on then.

By uninstalling and rebooting before installing the app again, that should ensure a "blank slate" installation, which should correct the original incomplete update issue.

I have this same issue however it's just the payments section of my app that I cannot access. Works fine on desktop. Same issue across iPhone and iPad. I can sign into the app but when I select payments the 2fa window appears for a split second and then goes away and I am unable to sign in.

I have seen similar issues with Android phones when an obscure third-party browser has been made the default browser (often without the user's knowledge). Not sure if that is an issue for iOS devices, but it might be worth checking to see which browser is your default browser and if that is changed.

Still got this issue today. Tried removing the app and reinstalling with a restart in between, now I completely can't log in on the app and get the 'someting's gone wrong' message.

No problems on web.

As an update to this, just turned off Limit IP Address Tracking in the settings for the connected Wi-Fi network and the problem goes away.

Add me back to this list as it’s stopped working again can’t even login in again now

I wanted to check my balance asked to login then got we encountered a problem error, then went back to my eBay and asked me to login there again and back to square one - won’t log in - reset password and still getting error I have reset phone and uninstalled and this isn’t working this time

I can login on browser and computer no problem - so now I have no app usage at all - please can this be fixed it’s insane to think this is an issue that’s not sorted!

Hi Marco, can you please add me to the list as well. Have switch to a new iPhone yesterday but unable to login at all. Tried password, temp password and social login plus the restarting option but neither worked. Thanks
