Unfortunately returning it is not an option for me as I need the laptop for work so any time I dont have it , then I cannot work which financially is going to cost me a lot more. My previous laptop was damaged on a site visit and barely running hence I needed this one quite urgently . I appreciate my personal circumstances are not the sellers responsibility , but I actually found 3 suitable laptops with windows 10 on ebay at the time and I chose this particular one . The others have since been sold so I've missed out on purchasing them because of the incorrect specs listed by the seller on the one that I bought - the incorrect listing IS their responsiblity. I am now in the position where I either have to lose out financially by loss of earnings if I return it , or lose out financially because I now still have to source and purchase a windows 10 laptop from another supplier. I just feel it wasnt unreasonable to ask for a small recompense for the inconvenience and additional expense their error has caused me . I have reached out to them for a partial refund but they point blank refuse. The spec was listed twice incorrectly on the item , not just the headline but also in the detailed specs and to be honest I think the operating system on any format of IT be it phone/laptop etc is probably one of the most important things to get right.

Hope someone can help me with this one.

I purchased a latop from an ebay store which was advertised with windows 10 . I specficially need windows 10 for some of my work programs which cannot be used with windows 11. The laptop stated windows 10 in the headline and also in the specs. When I received it and started it up , loaded some data on it and then noticed it was actually windows 11. I contacted seller who offered a return , but I need a laptop for work- if I send it back then I cannot work. I said I would keep it but as they had other equivalent laptops for sale with windows 11 which were cheaper I asked for a partial refund to cover the difference in prices. If I had wanted a laptop with windows 11 I would have just bought one of the cheaper ones which are virtually identical in specs (about 6 months older in processors ) but same size /brand/ models etc. My model was the highest priced but as it had windows 10 , I was happy to pay that . So now I have ended up paying more for a product whos specs were incorrectly advertised and I could have bought an equivalent model with windows 11 from the same ebay store at a cheaper price . I'm not asking for millions but just a refund on the price difference between their highest price equivalent windows 11 model and the price I paid for this windows 10 model which is actually windows 11. Seller wont do anything except offer a return but that is going to be financially a lot worse for me as I need the laptop for work. Any ideas how I can get a resolve to this?

Hi,

As you purchased a laptop windows 10, but received windows 11 you should have opened an eBay case for 'not as described' where the Seller would have to supply a return label, but it will need the item to be returned.

As the Seller as offered return you could ask eBay to get the return label, the Seller may decide to offer a partial refund as a cheaper option to resolve the situation.

You are guaranteed a refund, but only if you return item to seller within 30 days of buying.

Any part refund is between you and seller.

I know it's not ideal, but that's how ebay MBG works.
