Postage ?

Just had an Ebay message saying the item I posted exceeded measurements but Ebay covered extra cost 'this time'.

Very nice of them, but I wonder who is actually responsible here. I used the Ebay system where they come up with postage costs, I just click on what they suggest.

Are senders expected to question the Ebay suggestion ?

It's still best to package your item and know the correct weight and size before you list something. eBay estimates are just an average and you might use a bigger/heavier box.

It's always safer to "test pack" items to ensure that you know the correct packed size and weight when listing them.

Think you need to be a committed Ebayer to 'test pack'.

It would not be necessary to completely pack, but you must know how you intend to pack and the size of the box and approximate total weight.

In many cases like this, package is refused at the post office.

It does suggest when completing postage details that if the package is larger than expected that is not a problem.

My package was estimated at 1Kg, the Email from Ebay tells me it was 1.3.

I do wonder if it would be better left to sender to check rather than having an Ebay estimate.

Lesson learnt.
