Because you had tracking proving delivery to the address the buyer used at checkout, Ebay seller protection kicked in and you were not expected to refund.

In such a case, the outcome is decided by the payment institution, but don't assume that Ebay simply 'roll over' and refund.

I think they would try very hard to present the evidence of successful delivery to the payment institution so, personally, I would not assume that a refund was made.

I sold a watch to a buyer in Bangladesh, he said post it to a UK address. Item was delivered to UK address, Royal Mail delivery with photo.

The buyer then filed with eBay,

'Your buyer filed a payment dispute for an order placed on . This means that they disputed a charge directly with their payment institution. They're requesting £124.02 back, and the reason for this dispute is that the buyer didn't recognise the transaction '.

The buyer contacted me saying thank you for posting.

I have not lost any money (eBay seller protection).

But this means that someone has received a £124 item for free.

Do eBay follow up on theft?

Ebay will work a lot harder to protect their interests than they do when it's a seller's money on the hook.
