Hi, ref my advert to sell my golf club. I have received an email (from EBay?), asking for my account details as a buyer has deposited the asking price for my golf club. I have had no communication from the said buyer asking if the club is still available (which it is), and no questions asked. When I check on the buyers details it says they have just joined EBay today the 11th May 2026. I am very suspicious. Can you confirm please if the buyer is genuine and if I should proceed with my bank details?
Thanks

Gordon

Buyers don't need your bank details - they have to pay through Ebay.

Can you explain what has happened in a bit more detail?

Of course it is not genuine, you should know that is not the procedure for selling on ebay.

Forward email to spoof@ebay.com and block this member.

This is a member to member forum, not 'Ebay'.

There is no reason to suspect the buyer because they haven't asked if the item is still available or messaged you - they have simply bought it.

If you want to receive payment from Ebay, you do have to add your bank details.

Use the link below and work through the steps. Unless you are 100% certain the email is genuine, it's best not to follow any links.
