Refurbished laptop

Hi,

I've just bought a refurbished lenovo thinkpad t480, which arrived today. However, noticed a couple of issues, which I messaged the seller about.

1) There's a fresh copy of windows installed, however, after going through the initial windows 11 setup where you enter the wifi password. The laptop seems to be stuck in a loop where it's now saying, there's an issue and a windows update might fix it. However, the laptop restarts and goes back to the same screen again.

2) The seller advertised that the laptop battery is only 55% capacity. However, after charging an hour, when I unplug the battery, the laptop won't turn on which indicates that the battery might be completely dead.

I've messaged the seller of this and waiting for feedback.

Couple of questions to the community:

1) Should I just try and re-install windows myself or will that void the warranty and therefore I won't be able to return the laptop back to the seller?

2) In terms of the battery, I bought the laptop, thinking that the battery can at least hold a little bit of charge (or at least as advertised of 55%), not completely dead. What are my rights in this case?

I would just start a return using the reason "not as described," and get your money back.

Ok, charged the battery longer and it now appears to be holding up.

just need some guidance on whether I should try and re-install windows myself.

As advised by @**peaseblossom** .

Better to open ebay case and return for full refund.

You only have 30 days for MBG, so any issues after this time won't be covered by eBay.

Best to leave well alone and return in same condition received.

No need to correspond with seller, opening a Not as described case, process is sutomatic, seller provides a reply paid return label and on return refunds in full.

Failure to provide a label, or having returned and no refund, just escalate to ebay who take over.

Don't try and re-install Windows.

You came to the forum to ask for advice.

Take the advice now given by several people and start a return, send the laptop back and get a refund.

It doesn't work properly.

Don't keep it.
