I am sending a courier to collect a purchased item. How and when should i give seller collection code?

You should give it to the courier to hand over to the seller, when they collect it for you.

Be aware, using a courier and not picking up the item yourself, you absolve yourself from any protection eBay's MBG , Money Back Guarantee gives you, as a buyer.

No UK couriers seem to provide that service. What is point of MBG if it is voided when I send a courier. Can I not even return the item if it is faulty if I send a courier to collect? This is a high value item.

Sending a third party to collect an item listed as collection (in person), means you have no protection under the money back guarantee. It's one of the few exclusions that protects sellers.

So you can't claim item not received or item not as described.

We would tell the seller not to release the item without the collection code, so you will need to find a way to give them it, either when the courier is there, or before.

Those are eBay's rules you send a third party , means you haven't examined the item yourself, so cannot claim for item not as described on receipt of the item, if it is faulty /damaged / not as described.

When the courier hands over the collection code, this marks it as collected.

Should the item be faulty, then you'd still have the protection of your payment provider, most offer a 120 day buyer protection policy.
