Hi,

i sold a large coffee table to a customer on 16th of march and customer received it on 23rd of march, via parcel force label bought off eBay approx £14, parcel force say customer refused delivery ,next day he then said he hadn't and contacted parcel force and rearranged delivery, they didnt redeliver, i contacted parcel force and they didnt know where it was "but at some point it would probably return to me and that this was all caused by my customer refusing delivery.

I was under the impression that if customer refused delivery i wasn't to blame, anyway 3 days ago customer opened item not received case , i sent copy of tracking and also explained that although he didnt have it neither did i.

cut to the chase yesterday it arrived on my doorstep 23 days after being refused by the customer and bashed to bits , and apparently my customer contacted ebay and they resolved the case in his favour before the 3 days were even up, so after being a member since 2005 and a buisness seller 2 years ive now got my first strike against me and probably a negative feedback on its way for just following ebays own rules.

i have the right to appeal there decision do you think its worth it

thank you for any reply's

You need to check where it says refusing delivery invalidates the MBG and then challenge ebay on why they ignored that rule.

It's important that tracking shows delivery was refused.

I'm glad that eBay refunded you, but do they really deserve the compliment of "very good?"

eBay was wrong to refund a buyer who had refused delivery, wrong to resolve the case before the three days for you to respond was up, and wrong to place a defect on your account.

eBay is quick to resolve cases in the buyer's favour. True, in situations where the seller can disprove the buyer's claim eBay will refund the seller - but at their own expense, and we never seem to hear of eBay requiring buyers to repay refunds that they wrongly claimed.

With simple delivery, we understand that eBay is now even refunding buyers who claim that items are not as described, and not requiring them to return them.

eBay's more favourable treatment of buyers creates almost an encouragement for dishonest buyers to falsely claim refunds - safe in the knowledge that eBay will almost certainly support and refund them, and with luck let them keep the item as well! With a near certainty that nothing will be done to recover monies wrongly claimed. Plus, of course, the seller cannot even leave feedback that mentions a buyer's bad behavour - or if they do, eBay will remove it at the buyer's request.
