Selling a watch

Hi all just sold a watch to a buyer who bombarded me with questions prior to purchase I wrote and said please do not buy this watch as you won't be happy anyways he went ahead and bought it for £1500 and then immediately sent a cancellation notice so I cancelled it and eBay has charged me £231.67 in fees which I would like back how do I stand in this matter

These sound like listing upgrades, for example setting a reserve costs a non refundable listing fee of 4% payable sale or no sale.

This buyer messed you about from the start , what a shame you didn't block them, then and there. If you haven't done this , add their ID asap, here:

You could contact Customer Services, explain what has happened they may do a discretionary refund of those fees, but there's no guarantee, it's not mandatory for them to do this, but worth an ask!

I recommend waiting until tomorrow morning and contact CS at 8 a.m. when lines first open for live agents, as there's more chance of Dublin answering, only speak to them. It's a Call Back option so you'll hear if it's 'Ireland calling ! '.

Thanks for the advice I've only had the account for about a year and this is the only thing I've sold I didn't realise the fees were so expensive at nearly 20% that's extortionate

As a tip, before clicking on the final List Item With Displayed Fees button, glance just above it, it should read £0.00 Listing Fee.

If there is a fee amount listed there, you have selected an upgrade, and if you wish, it gives you time to scroll up and remove the payable upgrade. With no listing fees there are no seller fees to pay when an item sells.

You are also charged an 'ad fee' if you choose to promote your item.

It's a variable percentage and catches a lot of sellers out.
