Posting an Item to Denmark

Hi everyone

I'm new to selling on Ebay and wondered if someone can help me please.

I've got a customer in Denmark wanting to purchase a jacket so I've opted into the Global Shipping Programme and allowed it for this item. The customer has messaged me saying this:

"I can see that you allow shipping to Denmark in your set-up.

But it still says: Unfortunately, this seller won't send this item to Denmark. You can:- Update your delivery address and try again."

Any idea what I'm doing wrong, not doing - any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which item is it?

All the items I looked at show shipping to the UK only.

If you do have anything that shows shipping to Denmark, then you need to add postage to Denmark, then you do not need to use GSP which works out as expensive for buyer.

Its only easier in that you send to the UK hub. You have more control and its cheaper for buyers if you send direct.

You can opt out of GSP in your postage preferences. You may have to end the listing early and relist. Enable overseas postage on the listing and add cost of sending to Europe.

That shows as "Contact seller" for international postage, not GSP.

Yes, if you're not using GSP you look up the cost of sending yourself. For instance if you want to use Royal Mail go onto their website and look up International Europe zone 1.

Thank you, I'm just having a read up on it all and it sounds like it's not as straightforward sending items you've sold abroad - I've sent items to the EU as gifts before but not anything I've sold.

Its straight forward, however Danish customs can be a pain in the bottom. For ease of mind I would send it tracked, you can buy the label online with ROyal Mail in a few clicks and drop it off at your local post office. (make sure you ask for the receipt of acceptance as this along with their scan will activate the tracking.) You will need to fill in a CN22, but the RM website is really helpful in getting you to fill in the bits needed. Remember also to click the item sold on marketplace for IOSS etc.

Lol, yes I was wondering that about the customs.

I'm used to sending parcels through RM Click & Drop and I've sent gifts to the EU but it's all this IOSS and things I don't really get as not used to Ebay selling yet.

Might just be easier if I keep to UK selling for now 🙂

Honestly the IOSS thing is easy, you need to ensure you state its sale of goods. If you are using your click and drop. It will ask you if you have sold through a market place and will give I think four options one of which is ebay. Click this, it will ask for a description eg jacket and should help you through the rest, the value is what ever you have sold it for etc. RM then add all the IOSS details to the label and do the submissions to Danish customs for you.

Is it the same number for everyone on Ebay?

If you using the RM click and drop it populates it for you, you don't need to worry about it. The IOSS number for eBay is obviously the same where ever it goes in Europe. (for reference their number is IM2760000742)
