Cancel a car

My young grandson was messing on my phone and accidentally placed a bid the seller accepted the bid, I explained what had happened and asked them to cancel the item. They refused this request and won’t answer my messages.
what is my next step?

The seller is rightly furious as they now have to pay a non refundable listing fee of £14.99 for a car auction and to pay it again if they relist the car. So, it's costing them a lot, and they are in their right not to cancel at your request.

They may open a non payment case / cancellation after 4 days, this gives your account an unpaid item strike. If you gain another you will not be able to buy from the majority of sellers for a full 12 months.

Perhaps change your password on your eBay account and log out completely when not in use, so something like this doesn't happen again.

Remember that as far as eBay is concerned your grandson doesn't come into it. You're responsible for securing your account and for honouring any bids placed on it. I assume you will offer to repay the seller for their wasted £14.99 listing fee.

To prevent eBay from charging the seller full fees based on the selling price I imagine they will now cancel the sale for non-payment. eBay will then place an unpaid item strike on your account.

Be very careful that little fingers can't use your account again. A second unpaid item strike would automatically result in many sellers blocking you from bidding (strikes stay on an account for 12 months).
